Wolf Whistle Wounds Send Out The ‘Search Party’
Aussie production duo Wolf Whistle Wounds have released the latest instalment of their debut album with new single ‘Search Party’.
‘Search Party’ is the third single from Wolf Whistle Wounds’ self-titled debut album, following the releases of ‘Gaslight District’ and ‘Imposter Sindrone’ earlier in the year.
The new track embraces a darker aesthetic compared to previous songs, both in the music and accompanying music video. Bitcrushed drums provide an ominous undertone for the droning synth and vocalist Buffy Prescott’s intricately spun lyrics. The song builds in intensity as Prescott ponders: “how long must I be missing, before you search for me?”, imbuing it with a sense of urgency.
Shot and co-directed by Record Works, the music video for ‘Search Party’ features both Buffy and his bandmate Flames Benson, Matt Rickert, and a couple of faces that may be familiar to MGE regulars.
Eagle-eyed viewers may recognise Cam Wilson and Giles Hamwood of The Daisycutters among the unnamed assailants who beat our antagonist Buffy as he’s strapped to a chair, before convening for a tasty meat pie.
It’s truly surreal, slightly unsettling, viewing but well worth the watch. And Buffy says if you follow the breadcrumbs, you may just be able to solve the mystery.
Sonically, ‘Search Party’ is another example of Wolf Whistle Wounds’ vast palette of influences and their determination to not be pigeonholed by genre.

Speaking to MGE earlier this year, Buffy said:
“I quote Flames, my partner in all this, he says: ‘we never sit down and say hey, we have to write a song that sounds like this’. We write the song and what comes out comes out, and the influences – you can do a deep dive and find them in there but there’s no intent for them to be in there. We’ve always tried to blaze our own trail and get something original.”
Buffy told MGE the album is thematically structured around the “residual effects of emotional warfare”. Wolf Whistle Wounds will continue to release singles until the album’s full release mid-year.
