The Easter long weekend usually means an annual pilgrimage for music lovers to Byron Bay for Bluesfest. But this year, artists and ticketholders are calling for festival director Peter Noble to take accountability after Bluesfest went into liquidation just weeks before the event, owing $10 million to bands, punters, vendors, and crew. While ticketholders may be able to secure full or partial refunds, artists set to play the festival have been forced to cancel associated sideshows and are demanding compensation for financial losses.
QMusic CEO Kris Stewart resigned suddenly this week amid accusations of improprieties by board members in handing out lucrative media contracts for major events like the Queensland Music Awards and the BIGSOUND music conference. Stewart’s departure follows the recent resignations of President Viv Mellish and Vice-President John Collins.
Kanye West performed a sold-out comeback show in Los Angeles during which he stopped the show multiple times to berate the crew for “corny lighting” before restarting. West halted the concert several times during his song ‘Good Life’, admonishing the crew for the lighting before apologising to the audience and restarting.
“You see that, when it does that,” he said at one point. “Don’t do that. That shit corny yo.”
“What is this like an SNL skit or something?” he questioned. “Stop doing the vibrating Vegas lights, bro. We went over this in rehearsal.”

An entirely different type of rap battle is going down between US rapper Eminem and Australian swimwear brand Swim Shady. Eminem (real name Marshall Bruce Mathers III) has challenged the use of the trademark in multiple regions, including Australia, Japan, the United States, and United Kingdom. He argues the Swim Shady name “highly confusingly similar and/or legally identical in sight and sound” to his Slim Shady identity. The case is ongoing and the latest in a series of trademark disputes by Eminem against brands with similar names.
Former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham was targeted in an alleged stalker attack. An unidentified female assailant reportedly doused Buckingham in an unknown liquid as he arrived for an appointment in Santa Monica. Buckingham was unharmed and authorities said he is familiar with the woman from previous incidents.
US pop chart-topper Olivia Rodrigo has announced the release of her third album ‘You Seem Pretty Sad For a Girl So in Love’ 12 June. Rodrigo has been teasing the 13-track project since late last year, saying: “I am so proud of this record, and I can’t wait for you to hear it.” She teamed up again with producer Daniel Nigro who worked on her first two albums ‘Sour’ and ‘Guts’.
Ahead of the release of her studio album ‘Anomie’, Adelaide-based songwriter and musician Anna Jeavons shares another powerful taster with new single, ‘Smart Casual’. A song that speaks to Jeavons’ heartfelt and natural talent for songwriting and storytelling, ‘Smart Casual’ is emotive and high impact. Produced by Ben Stewart (Slowly Slowly) it locks listeners in, with commanding vocals and layered guitars building to a moving crescendo. Jeavons pours reflections on a turbulent time in her life into lyrics that feel both accessible and intimate.
