Australian actress Ruby Rose alleges US pop star Katy Perry sexually assaulted her during a night out together in 2010. Rose made the claims in response to a post by Perry mocking Justin Bieber’s Coachella set. “Katy Perry sexual[ly] assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a sh*t what she thinks,” Rose wrote on Threads. Melbourne police are currently investigating Perry. Ruby Rose first revealed the assault in a 2011 feature article she wrote for news.com.au.
US billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman has proposed a $64bn purchase of Universal Music Group. Ackman’s Pershing Square Capital Management has its sights set on the biggest music company in the world but will have to compete with French billionaire Vincent Bollore who owns a controlling 28% stake in UMG.
A federal court in New York has ruled that Live Nation operated a harmful monopoly over major concert venues. Live Nation and Ticketmaster were found guilty of systematically stifling competition and extracting excess profit from ticket buyers by charging unnecessary fees. In Australia, consumers are often overcharged at least $10 per ticket, equalling millions in profit for Live Nation and Ticketmaster. The ruling has triggered renewed calls for a review of transparency in Australian ticket sales and for the ACCC to intervene.
Michelle Dick, 54 has been named as the stalker who attacked former Fleetwood Mac guitarist the other week. Dick was arrested on seven charges: two counts of stalking, two counts of threats to commit a crime with intent to terrorise, assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism and battery, and claims to be biological daughter of the rock star.
