Another edition of This Week In Entertainment News brings closure following the death of a rock icon, a new world record and as usual, heaps of new music releases.
Authorities have release details about Ace Frehley’s cause of death. Autopsy reports show the founding KISS guitarist died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head sustained in a fall. The 74-year-old rocker had been on life support since suffering a brain bleed from a fall in his studio. His death has been ruled an accident. Ace’s family made the heartbreaking decision to remove his ventilator in mid-October. Rock in peace, Ace.
Rock icons AC/DC have ignited their explosive ‘PWR/UP’ tour in Australia. Melbourne fans were thunderstruck to hear the band perform their classic hit ‘Jailbreak’ live for the first time in 34 years. And although the band have retired ‘Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock n Roll)’ from the setlist, a tryst of bagpipers gathered in Fed Square in Melbourne to break a world record. 374 bagpipers performed ‘Long Way To The Top’ in front of thousands of excited fans, bringing the record (previously held by Bulgaria with 333 pipers) home to its rightful place.
Kiwi new wavers Split Enz are getting back together for the first time in almost 20 years to headline Bluesfest 2026. 50 years on from the release of their debut album, Split Enz will share the stage with Earth, Wind & Fire, The Black Crowes and The Living End in Byron Bay over the Easter long weekend. If the details of someone’s incompetence don’t interest you, this certainly will. Academy Award winners Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway reunite for the sequel to the 2006 smash-hit film ‘The Devil Wears Prada’. A teaser trailer for ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ popped up online this week, with the highly anticipated film dropping 1 May next year.
James Van Der Beek, star of late ‘90s teen drama ‘Dawson’s Creek’, has announced he is auctioning off his personal collection of film and television memorabilia to help fund treatment for stage 3 colorectal cancer. Van Der Beek has been battling the disease for more than two years and 100 per cent of the proceeds will contribute to his treatment.
“I’ve been storing these treasures for years, waiting for the right time to do something with them, and with all of the recent unexpected twists and turns life has presented recently, it’s clear that the time is now,” the star posted on Instagram.
His collection includes Dawson’s outfit from the from ‘Dawson’s Creek’ pilot as well as his character’s West Canaan Coyotes hat from ‘Varsity Blues’. The online auction is being held by Propstore in December.

Legendary Australian alt-rock group Kisschasy have released their latest single ‘Uncomfortably Numb’ and announced their forthcoming album ‘The Terrors of Comfort’, currently slated for a 13 February release.
