Coachella Festival kicked off over the weekend, serving up the first lot of acts, including headliners Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, and Karol G. Carpenter’s Hollywood-themed set included a surprise appearance from Susan Sarandon; Will Ferrell and Sam Elliott also featured. Carpenter has faced backlash for calling out a fan for ‘yodelling’ during her set but has since apologised.
Meanwhile, Justin Bieber’s set has had a mixed response, leaving many with the same familiar lingering question: is he okay? Bieber presented a very informal show, performing from his laptop and asking for fan requests. Bieber sang along to YouTube karaoke versions of his own songs and looked up viral memes, with many leaving in droves. Some commentators say it was his worst performance ever while others claim it’s pure genius in the streaming era. Either way, Bieber takes home a juicy $10 million pay cheque for his (lack of) effort.
Global EDM superstar DJ Fisher has postponed his popular Out 2 Lunch Festival until 2027, citing rising fuel and production costs. “Australia is going through it right now,” Fisher wrote in a post. “Fuel shortages, rising costs, and significant disruption expected over the next six weeks. We’d rather do this properly in 2027 than ask anything more of our fans right now. Your tickets remain valid. 2027 is going to be worth every second of the wait. New 2027 dates will be announced soon. Existing ticket holders who wish to obtain a refund can do so through Ticketek.”
Kanye West has been banned from entering from the UK, leading to the cancellation of Wireless Festival. West was scheduled to perform at the multi-day event in July, but organisers pulled the pin entirely when the Home Office announced West was barred from entering the country due to previous antisemitic comments.
