Award-winning US comedian Maria Bamford has announced an Australian tour, hitting capital city stages around the country this July.
Maria’s 2024 Australian tour follows a string of critically acclaimed specials and the release of her memoir ‘Sure, I’ll Join Your Cult: A Memoir of Mental Illness and the Quest To Belong Anywhere’.
Maria has won praises from peers and audiences the world over for her unique comedy style and sharp observations on family dynamics and human eccentricities. Combining sharp humour with empathy, Bamford’s comedy is unafraid to lean into the personal, as she weaves stories about her life and her own mental health journey in with wickedly funny comedy.
She is also passionate advocate for mental health, having spoken at the Saks Institute for Mental Health Law Policy and Ethics Symposium, The Chautauqua Institution and the Psychotherapy Networker Symposium, and being presented The OCD Foundation’s Illumination Award for her work in the field.
This is Maria’s first Australian tour in five years. The first female comic to have two half-hour Comedy Central Presents specials, multi-talented Maria’s expansive catalogue also includes her original series ‘Lady Dynamite’, several comedy albums and voice roles on animated series such as ‘Big Mouth’, ‘BoJack Horseman’, ‘Bob’s Burgers’ and ‘American Dad!’
