New Music: ‘Runaway’ The Sporks

‘Runaway’ is the raw and electrifying debut single from young Welsh indie rockers The Sporks, a band on the cusp of adulthood.

‘Runaway’ is a defining breakout moment for The Sporks, capturing the restless energy of youth, blending retro rock vibes with a fresh, modern verve.

With gritty, Strokes-inspired vocals and funky, rhythmic basslines reminiscent of the Chili Peppers, the lyrics delve into the tension between wanting to escape and longing for home, making it both a sonic and emotional journey.

Consisting of guitarist/vocalist Evan Waters, bassist Stevie Lloyd and drummer Ollie Breeze, all 18 years old, The Sporks are the youngest signing for Welsh independent label Shiny Vinyl Presents.

‘Runaway’ has been given the shiniest of Shiny Vinyl treatment with production by label head Phil Vat and his Aubrey Straw bandmate Owen Davies, MIDI framework by Brian Karrot and additional guitar licks courtesy of Ben Curtis from the Riff and Jackson Lucitt’s band.

Embarking on their musical journey, this lively band of young adults have made a conscious decision to turn deaf ears to the sludge of contemporary AI generated sound and go directly to source.

So, stripped back and simple by design, The Sporks are here to feed you their own blend of retro rock originals. Out of the mouths of babes, they have laid the foundations of a freshly interpreted sound to inspire their creations.

‘Runaway’ by The Sporks is available now.

‘Become What You Are’, the new album from The Daisycutters is available now via MADCAP Global Music, JB Hi-Fi and independent music retailers.
