It’s a massive year of celebrations for Mushroom Group as Australia’s largest independent music company marks 50 years of making noise.

2023 will be an historic year for Mushroom with a blockbuster concert, re-imagined recordings and specialty merchandise to commemorate their 50th birthday.

The Mushroom 50 Concert is set to take place in November, with details of the line-up and venue yet to be released. If the record-breaking Mushroom 25 Concert in 1998 is anything to go by, this event will be one for the history books.

Mushroom are also releasing a series of classic singles re-imagined by Mushroom artists, including The Temper Trap covering ‘Under The Milky Way’ by The Church. There will also be contributions from Missy Higgins, Bliss n Eso, Paul Kelly and more.

Mushroom was founded by the late Michael Gudinski in 1972, forever changing the landscape of live music in Australia. Along with bringing international acts to Australian fans, he also showcased our bands and artists to the world.

Michael passed away in 2021 and was a true champion of Australian music. He built a legacy in Mushroom that is carried on by his son Matt Gudinski.

MADCAP Global founder and Managing Director Stephen Morris has previously worked for Mushroom, and extends his warmest wishes to everyone at Mushroom and applauds everything they have achieved.

“It was exciting to be a part of the Mushroom journey, along with so many other people and artists that make up the Mushroom family,” Stephen says.

“Congratulations to Matt and all the Mushroom Group on this momentous milestone. It was a privilege to work for someone that inspired people as Michael did.”
