New Music: ‘There’s A Revolution In Sight v5’ by Aubrey Straw
Welsh indie rock quintet Aubrey Straw present an audacious journey through sound and story with their new album ‘There’s A Revolution In Sight v5’.
The album is a sonic manifesto that navigates the tumultuous waters of existence across 12 tracks, each one serving as a poignant reminder of the human condition.
Lead single ‘Imperfect Spheres’ sets the tone for the record, immediately tapping into the chaotic indie energy for which Aubrey Straw are renowned.
“Like planets, worlds, relationships, bubbles, ‘Imperfect Spheres’ exist until they don’t,” the band share.
“Maybe whizzing by in denial of their imperfections until a fatal realisation dawns and they implode. Maybe colliding with others who alter their trajectory, shape or being but remain resolutely intent on moving forward as a new near spherical entity.”
Aubrey Straw has had four core line-ups since 1997, and ‘There’s A Revolution In Sight v5’ is the band’s fifth stab at starting a rock ‘n’ roll revolution with the previous line-ups uniting for the album.
‘There’s A Revolution In Sight v5’ showcases Aubrey Straw’s narrative prowess, each track offering a unique perspective on life’s twists and turns, from the poignant nostalgia of ‘1992’ to the rebellious energy of ‘Hasbeen’. As the album unfolds, tracks like previously released single ‘Heads (Like These Are Hard to Come By)’ propel us into a dystopian world towards the impending struggle.
‘There’s A Revolution In Sight v5’ is released via Shiny Vinyl Presents, a not for profit record label seeking to encourage the production of quality original music from Port Talbot and surrounding areas. The official music video for album track ‘1992’ premieres exclusively on the Shiny Vinyl Presents YouTube Channel on 12 April 2024.
