The Daisycutters Perform With GANGgajang

Gold Coast heroes The Daisycutters play a hometown show at Southport this Friday, supporting Aussie rock royalty GANGgajang.

It promises to be an evening of classic rock from two perennial Australian acts in the Beats Auditorium at Sopo, Southport.

Formed in Sydney in 1984 at the nascent of the Aussie pub rock scene, GANGgajang released their self-titled debut album in 1985 and quickly became a defining feature of the new Australian sound.

The music of GANGgajang provokes an immediate sense of place that is uniquely Australian in songs like ‘Sounds Of Then (This Is Australia)’, ‘To The North’ and ‘Ambulance Men’. With the passing of founding member Chris Bailey in 2013, the band have carried his spirit with them into a new chapter.

The Daisycutters are also in a new chapter of their career, releasing a new album, and their first in 15 years, ‘Become What You Are’ in 2023 via MADCAP Global. The Daisycutters are to the Gold Coast what bands like The Saints and Powderfinger are to Brisbane.

The band formed in 1997 and found early success with their sun-drenched indie sound. ‘Become What You Are’ saw The Daisycutters reinvigorate their love for writing and performing, producing singles like ‘I’m Not The One Who Just Wants To Be Friends’, ‘The Longer We Do This’ and ‘The Last Shake Of The Bag’.

GANGgajang performs at Sopo (Southport, Gold Coast) Friday 22 March. Tickets available here.

‘Become What You Are’, the new album from The Daisycutters is available now via MADCAP Global Music, JB Hi-Fi and independent music retailers.
