This Week In Entertainment News 18 September 2026

Music and entertainment news from Australia and around the world, plus new releases and tour updates.

Macklemore has been dropped from the remaining US dates of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Loop’ tour following pro-Palestinian remarks during a 4 September performance at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium. The rapper told the crowd: “Free Palestine” and said people in Gaza and the occupied West Bank had not been forgotten. Tour promoter Messina Touring Group said upcoming venues would not allow shows to proceed with Macklemore on the line-up, putting the tour at risk of cancellation. He had been scheduled to support eight of the final 10 US concerts. Sheeran later said the decision was made by the promoter, not him, after attempts to reach a resolution with venue owners were unsuccessful.

Making a last-minute decision to fly to Melbourne to write with Nick Kingswell and Rhys Lewis, Ruby boarded the plane without a clear idea of what she wanted to write about. By the time she arrived, however, the 40-degree heat had made the subject pretty hard to ignore.
