New Music: ‘Tongue’ by Foley
New music from Aotearoa arrives on our shores with the release of ‘Tongue’, the latest single from electro-pop duo Foley.
“‘Tongue’ is a playful take on surface level relationships,” Foley explain.
“Where we love the idea of someone but can’t trust them when it comes down to it. You can’t put your finger on what doesn’t feel right, and you get caught up in the allure of the unknown.”
Foley are at the forefront of an exciting new wave of pop music, precipitated by the likes of Broods and BENEE.
The duo of vocalist Ash Wallace and bandmate Gabe Everett is a formidable musical pairing, amplifying excellent production and attuned pop sensibilities in making something new and fresh.
‘Tongue’ is taken from Foley’s forthcoming debut album ‘Crowd Pleaser’ (due 25 August) and was recorded with their long-time collaborator Josh Fountain (BENEE, Ruel).
“We’re so incredibly excited about the imminent release of our debut album ‘Crowd Pleaser’,” the pair says.
“This album is a culmination of two years of writing and experimentation, chats between friends, and unpacking the corners of our lives and experiences in music.
“The world we’ve been building musically and visually has been such a pleasure to inhabit and bring fans into; it’s only going to get bigger and better from here.
“We’re planning festival runs and more live shows, and a few other tricks up our sleeve for the final album drop. Can’t wait!”
