2025 AFL Grand Final
The 2025 AFL Grand Final this weekend sees an historic showdown between Geelong Cats and Brisbane Lions.
The 2025 AFL Grand Final is the first time Geelong and Brisbane have faced each other in a grand final in the history of the VFL/AFL. Geelong was the first team to enter the finals round, beating Hawthorn by 30 points in their preliminary final.
Brisbane earned their spot in the decider with a 29-point victory over 2023 Premiership winners Collingwood. Brisbane Lions will be competing to retain the cup after last year’s win, while Geelong Cats will be keen to claw it back for the first time since 2022.
Geelong and Brisbane last played each other in the second preliminary final, Cats defeating the Lions by 38 points. The grand final will be a home ground game for the Cats at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), with more than 100,000 expected to attend.
Pre-game entertainment for the 2025 AFL Grand Final is headlined by US hip hop superstar Snoop Dogg. The decision to include Snoop Dogg – whose lyrics feature homophobic, racial and misogynistic slurs – has drawn criticism for not being in line the AFL’s family-friendly image. However, AFL CEO Andrew Dillon remains confidently firm in the choice.
Snoop Dogg will be joined on stage by some incredible Australian talent, including six-time ARIA award winner Baker Boy, multi-instrumentalist Tash Sultana and First Nations artists Emma Donovan and Kee’ahn. The Australian national anthem will be performed by Australian singer-songwriter Vera Blue.
Viewers can watch the 2025 AFL Grand Final free-to-air on Channel Seven as well as streaming services. Live sets are also being setup in Brisbane and Melbourne for fans to view the game.
